Immigration busts maid trafficking syndicate in Klang Valley, eight Indonesian women rescued
PUTRAJAYA, April 17 – Immigration Department of Malaysia has dismantled a syndicate believed to be exploiting foreign domestic workers in coordinated raids across the Klang Valley.
Director-general Zakaria Shaaban said the April 15 operation covered 11 locations and followed a month-long intelligence effort.
Victims lured with false job offers
The syndicate allegedly targeted Indonesian women without valid work permits, promising employment while misleading employers by offering to handle documentation.
Employers charged thousands
Each domestic worker was reportedly supplied at fees ranging from RM4,500 to RM6,000.
Local and foreign agents detained
Authorities arrested two local women, believed to be illegal agents, including a mother-daughter pair known as “Ibu Maznah”.
In a separate raid, two Yemeni men, two Indonesian women and a local transporter were also detained.
Additional arrests made
Checks at other sites led to the detention of 18 Indonesians for immigration offences.
Evidence seized
Officers confiscated passports, mobile phones, agreements and a vehicle believed to be used by the syndicate.
Investigation under trafficking laws
Suspects are being investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, while the rescued victims have been placed in a shelter.
