The decision was endorsed by the party’s Supreme Council, chaired by UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Applications approved unconditionally
Secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said all formal applications were accepted without conditions.
Streamlined approval process
The council also delegated authority to the Rumah Bangsa committee, led by Mohamed Khaled Nordin, to expedite future approvals.
Online membership system introduced
UMNO has amended its membership rules to allow online registrations, with a large-scale rollout set to begin Monday.
Strong youth interest
The party has seen rising interest from younger applicants, with around 1,300 applications through the Youth wing and over 1,500 through Puteri UMNO in recent weeks.
Part of broader revival strategy
The move is seen as part of a broader strategy to rebuild party strength, expand membership and reinforce UMNO’s relevance ahead of future political challenges.
