Jamal Yunos Auctions Personal Items to Settle RM66,061 Judgment Debt to Teresa Kok
PETALING JAYA — Sungai Besar UMNO division chief Jamal Md Yunos said he has auctioned two personal items — a slipper and a towel — to raise funds to settle an outstanding judgment debt of RM66,061.85 owed to Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
In a Facebook post, Jamal stated that the items were previously used during a protest linked to Selangor’s water supply issues during the tenure of former Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.
He said the auction generated RM66,000 in total bids, nearly matching the amount required to settle the court-ordered costs.
Court Enforcement and Postponement
Jamal indicated that a court auction had been scheduled in relation to the enforcement proceedings.
However, he claimed that a postponement of the court directive had been secured prior to the scheduled action.
Despite this, he proceeded with a private auction of the items to facilitate payment to Teresa.
Two Bidders Participate
According to Jamal, two bidders participated — one from Negeri Sembilan who purchased the towel, and another from Sabah who bought the slipper for RM33,000.
He said the funds are expected to be received soon and will be handed over to settle the outstanding judgment.
Background to the Legal Dispute
On January 28, Teresa reportedly served a notice of seizure after obtaining a High Court order to recover RM66,061.85 in unpaid judgment costs.
The writ of seizure and sale allowed enforcement action to be taken against movable assets belonging to Jamal as part of the legal recovery process.
The development marks another chapter in the ongoing legal dispute between the two political figures, with Jamal stating his intention to resolve the matter upon receipt of the auction proceeds.
