
Firefighters Quickly Contain Blaze At SMK Putrajaya Presint 14(1) Hall
PUTRAJAYA: Firefighters successfully prevented a fire from spreading during an incident involving the rear section of the hall stage at SMK Putrajaya Presint 14(1) this evening.
The incident occurred at around 6.10pm after Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia received an emergency call through the MERS 999 hotline, prompting fire engines from the Presint 14 and Presint 7 Fire and Rescue Stations to be dispatched to the scene.
Assistant director of operations for the Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Department, Muhammad Haziq Hazmi, said firefighters discovered that the blaze involved chairs and tables stored behind the school hall stage upon arrival.
According to him, the fire affected an estimated area measuring about 12 by 50 square feet.
“The extinguishing operation was carried out by 12 firefighters using water from the fire engine tanks and nearby hydrants,” he said when contacted today.
He added that the prompt response by the fire department successfully prevented the flames from spreading to other sections of the building, reducing the risk of more serious damage.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Authorities are still conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire.
