RSGC Strengthens International-Level Junior Golf Development
KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) is continuing its efforts to strengthen junior golf development through the organisation of the 11th RSGC Junior Invitational Golf Championship 2026, which brought together young golfers from around the world.
The tournament featured participants from 12 countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Lithuania, Australia and the United States.
RSGC General Committee member Ezani Abu Bakar said the championship serves not only as a competitive platform but also as an important avenue to identify and nurture young golfing talent.
According to him, the event, organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), aims to strengthen elite junior golf development while providing international exposure to local players.
“One of the key rewards offered is the opportunity for the top Malaysian players in the Under-18 and Under-15 categories to compete in the 2026 Taiwan Junior Golf Championship,” he said after the prize presentation ceremony at RSGC today.
He noted that competing in Taiwan would provide valuable exposure as the tournament gathers elite junior golfers from various countries.
“This is one of the ways we encourage our junior players to compete against international talents and gain high-level competitive experience,” he said.
He added that players who perform well internationally could also attract attention from sponsors and overseas educational institutions.
Beyond competition, the tournament also plays a role in building discipline, confidence and competitive spirit among young athletes.
According to the organisers, this year’s edition also produced a notable achievement with three hole-in-one successes recorded throughout the tournament.
The accomplishment added excitement to the championship and highlighted the high level of competition among the junior golfers.
The continued organisation of the prestigious event is expected to further strengthen Malaysia’s junior golf development ecosystem while producing more promising talents for the future of the sport.
