Driver In Fatal Jalan Ampang Crash To Face Murder Charges Tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: A man suspected of causing a fatal crash along Jalan Ampang earlier this month is set to be charged tomorrow with two counts of murder.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the 24-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear at the Kuala Lumpur Court at 9am under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

According to him, the charges relate to the deaths of married couple Doraisingam Arumugam and Menagah Arjunan in the incident that occurred on May 2 at about 5.30am.

It was previously reported that the couple’s motorcycle was hit from behind by a car allegedly driven by the suspect while travelling along Jalan Ampang.

Both victims suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragic incident drew widespread public attention following the sudden loss of the married couple in the early morning crash.

Police had earlier conducted further investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident, including factors related to driving conditions and the sequence of events.

With the charges expected to be filed tomorrow, the case will proceed through the next stage of legal proceedings in court.

Section 302 of the Penal Code carries severe penalties, including the possibility of capital punishment or imprisonment upon conviction for murder.

The case has also reignited public discussion surrounding road safety and the importance of responsible driving, especially in busy urban areas.
