Fahmi Encourages Malaysians To Use RTM Klik For Free World Cup 2026 Coverage

PUTRAJAYA: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has urged Malaysians to download the RTM Klik application to ensure they can watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 free of charge.

He said the world’s most prestigious football tournament will be broadcast through Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Unifi TV, which have been appointed as the official broadcasters in Malaysia.

According to Fahmi, the opportunity for Malaysians to enjoy free World Cup coverage is significant as it marks the first such access in around 20 years.

He said viewers will be able to follow the matches through the RTM Klik application in addition to MyTV and RTM channels.

He made the remarks after attending the Communications Ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya today.

Also present were Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, ministry secretary-general Abdul Halim Hamzah and Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.

At the same time, Fahmi called on RTM and Unifi TV to ensure that viewers’ experience is not affected by what he described as unreasonable broadcast restrictions.

He stressed that access to live broadcasts should be made easier so football fans nationwide can enjoy the tournament more comfortably.

Apart from live match coverage, the ministry is also planning several special programmes ahead of the tournament to further boost excitement surrounding the 2026 World Cup.

Last week, Fahmi announced that all 104 matches of the tournament would be broadcast live through Unifi TV.

RTM is also expected to air most matches either live or on delayed telecast through RTM Klik and MyTV platforms.

United States will co-host the 2026 World Cup together with Mexico and Canada.

The opening match is scheduled to take place in Mexico City on June 11, 2026, while the final will be played in New Jersey on July 19, 2026.
