Rafizi to Appear Before MACC in Arm Holdings JV Probe, Says Charges Possible

KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 — Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli has confirmed that he will appear before the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to provide a statement regarding an ongoing investigation into the government’s joint venture with Arm Holdings.

He said he received the official notice earlier today, requiring him to attend the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on May 4 at 10am.

The probe is linked to the government’s strategic collaboration in the semiconductor sector, which is viewed as a key initiative to strengthen Malaysia’s technological capabilities.

However, the project has come under scrutiny following a report lodged by Perkasa questioning the process behind the agreement.

According to Rafizi, the report alleged that the deal was rushed and may have been detrimental to national interests.

He, however, challenged the basis of the claims, noting that the complainant did not provide a detailed explanation of the allegations.

Rafizi emphasised that the investigation does not involve financial misconduct.

Instead, it appears to focus on governance and decision-making processes within the administration.

“There is no monetary element involved. The issue revolves around how decisions were made and executed,” he said.

He added that after providing his statement, he expects the possibility of facing charges related to breach of trust.

Potential allegations may include providing inaccurate information or influencing Cabinet decisions under time pressure.

Despite this, Rafizi said he is prepared to face legal proceedings with the support of his legal team.

He also indicated that if the case proceeds to court, it could involve a lengthy trial with testimony from key figures.

At the same time, he noted that the joint venture with Arm Holdings is still ongoing, with the government continuing to promote it as a strategic step in developing Malaysia’s semiconductor industry.

Rafizi described the investigation as a sign of increasing scrutiny over public policy decisions, particularly those involving major national projects.

He is expected to elaborate further on the matter through his media platform later tonight.
