
MWL Seminar Highlights Importance Of Family Institutions In Addressing Social Challenges
GOMBAK: Muslim World League (MWL) organised an intellectual seminar at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to discuss the importance of strengthening family institutions and communities based on Islamic values in facing modern social challenges.
The seminar, themed Building Families and Communities According to Islamic Perspectives: Inspiration from the Prophetic Sirah and the Makkah Charter, gathered academics, researchers, students and members of the public.
IIUM deputy rector for research, innovation and development Mohamed Aslam Mohamed Haneef said strong family development must be supported through a comprehensive approach that integrates revealed knowledge with contemporary thought.
According to him, families play a critical role as the foundation of a stable, harmonious and resilient society.
“The increasingly complex social and moral challenges of today require approaches guided by Islamic values, ethics and divine guidance to ensure balanced societal development,” he said while officiating the seminar.
Various issues related to family and community development from an Islamic perspective were discussed during the programme by academics including Khairil Husaini Jamil, Roudlotul Firdaus Fatah Yasin, Nashwan Abdo Khaled, Zunaidah Mohd Marzuki, Abu Hafiz and Fatimah Muhammad.
Meanwhile, Muslim World League board member Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz said the Makkah Charter can serve as a guide in building a more united and harmonious society.
He said values such as moderation, social responsibility and peaceful coexistence should be strengthened to preserve the stability of family institutions.
In the same event, AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah dean for Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences at IIUM, Hafiz Zakariya stressed that collaboration between educational institutions and international organisations is essential in addressing challenges affecting modern society.
The programme was organised in collaboration with several organisations, including QUSSA, in conjunction with the International Day of Families celebration.
Organisers hope the seminar will raise public awareness on the importance of family institutions as the foundation for sustainable and prosperous civilisation development.
