GitGuardian Secures $50M Series C to Tackle Non-Human Identity Surge and AI Agent Security Risks
NEW YORK — GitGuardian has raised $50 million in Series C funding to expand its secrets and non-human identity (NHI) security platform as enterprises confront an explosion of service accounts and autonomous AI agents.
The round was led by Insight Partners, with participation from Quadrille Capital and existing backers including Balderton, Eurazeo and Sapphire Ventures.
Addressing the AI Identity Gap
As AI agents approach parity with human developers in productivity, each system requires credentials, permissions and lifecycle governance. Yet while identity management solutions have matured for human users, non-human identities remain fragmented and under-managed.
GitGuardian is positioning itself beyond secrets detection toward full lifecycle governance of NHIs, including automated discovery, credential rotation, usage analytics and compliance reporting.
This shift comes amid rising breaches linked to exposed API keys, tokens and service accounts embedded in development workflows.
Enterprise Validation and Growth
The company reported strong 2025 metrics:
115,000+ developers protected globally
610,000+ repositories monitored
210,000+ connected collaboration sources
350,000 secret exposures detected and remediated
More than 80 per cent of new annual recurring revenue originated from North America, highlighting accelerating enterprise adoption.
Strategic Capital Allocation
The funding will support three primary pillars:
First, AI agent security innovation, expanding detection and governance of credentials used by AI systems.
Second, enterprise-scale NHI lifecycle management for organizations handling tens of thousands of non-human identities.
Third, geographic expansion, accelerating US growth while targeting APAC, South America and the Middle East, alongside deeper penetration into regulated European markets.
Positioned at a Market Inflection Point
With regulatory scrutiny intensifying and AI-driven software development scaling rapidly, GitGuardian aims to solidify its leadership in NHI and AI security.
The company plans to expand hiring across engineering, sales and customer success teams in both the US and Europe, reinforcing its ambition to remain the top application on GitHub Marketplace and a defining player in enterprise AI-era security.
