RM500,000 Allocation to Upgrade Motorcycle Circuit in Pahang Supports Youth Motorsports Development
KUANTAN, May 3 — The Pahang state government is stepping up efforts to support youth involvement in motorsports with a RM500,000 allocation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) to upgrade a motorcycle circuit in Pekan.
State executive councillor Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said the funding reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to providing facilities that align with the interests of younger generations.
He explained that upgrade works are expected to begin soon, with priority given to improving the track surface and core infrastructure to ensure safety and usability.
The initiative comes as motorsports continue to gain popularity among youths, offering both recreational opportunities and a platform for talent development.
“Our immediate focus is to ensure the track is in good condition before moving on to further enhancements in stages,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Department of Youth and Sports for their support in facilitating the project.
According to him, the upgraded circuit is expected to serve as a foundation for broader development in motorsports infrastructure across the state.
He noted that the need for a dedicated and safer venue for motorcycle-related activities has long been voiced by local youth communities.
Fadzli made the remarks after attending the launch of the RXZ Fighter 3.0 programme held at Serambi Teruntum.
The two-day event attracted approximately 50,000 participants and enthusiasts from across Malaysia and abroad, highlighting the growing appeal of motorsports in the region.
He said the strong turnout demonstrates the potential of motorsports not only as a recreational activity but also as a tourism driver.
Looking ahead, the state government is open to hosting future editions of such events in Pekan, particularly once the circuit upgrades are completed.
However, he added that Kuantan remains the most suitable venue for large-scale events at present due to its well-developed infrastructure, including accommodation and accessibility.
Overall, the initiative is seen as a positive step toward strengthening youth development while enhancing the motorsports ecosystem in Pahang.
