Michelle Yeoh to Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star During Chinese New Year Celebration

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — Malaysian-born Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh is set to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 18, coinciding with the second day of Chinese New Year.

The ceremony, presented by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, will be held at 11.30am Pacific Time in Los Angeles, which translates to 3.30am on February 19 in Malaysia.

The recognition arrives at a peak moment in Yeoh’s career following her groundbreaking Best Actress victory at the Academy Awards for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Her win marked a historic achievement, making her the first Malaysian and the first Asian woman to secure the award in that category.

Yeoh was originally announced as a Walk of Fame honouree in June 2023, alongside prominent entertainment figures such as Kevin Feige and the late Carl Weathers.

Now 63, the Ipoh-born actress continues to lead major international productions. She appeared in the 2025 blockbuster Wicked: For Good and is set to play a key role in filmmaker James Cameron’s upcoming sequels, beginning with Avatar 4 and continuing into Avatar 5.

Beyond large-scale franchise films, Yeoh will star in the Prime Video series Blade Runner 2099 and headline Sandiwara, directed by Sean Baker. The short film, shot entirely on iPhones in a Malaysian night market, features Yeoh portraying five distinct roles and is set to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 13.

The Walk of Fame honour further solidifies Yeoh’s position as one of Malaysia’s most celebrated global cultural ambassadors, reflecting a career that continues to expand across Hollywood and international cinema.
