Kamal Adli Says Threads Revealed Financial Hardship Faced by Many Malaysians
PETALING JAYA: Actor and television host Kamal Adli says his experience on the social media platform Threads has exposed him to the financial struggles faced by many Malaysians, prompting him to quietly extend assistance whenever he is able.
The 40-year-old entertainer, whose full name is Ahmad Kamal Ahmad Adli, said he regularly receives direct messages from individuals seeking financial help, ranging from requests for short-term loans to appeals for donations to meet essential living expenses.
Speaking during a media session for Melodi Terhangat RST @ Balai Berita, Kamal said he was surprised by the number of people who reached out to him after he became active on the platform.
According to him, many messages come from individuals experiencing genuine financial difficulties, and he chooses to provide assistance within his means without publicising his charitable efforts.
Kamal said some of the requests have been particularly moving, including messages from families asking for as little as RM50 to purchase milk for their children.
Whenever he decides to help, he said he usually asks the recipient to provide a Quick Response (QR) payment code so that he can transfer the funds directly.
The actor added that he does not dwell on how the money is ultimately spent, explaining that what matters most to him is extending help with sincere intentions whenever possible.
Beyond personal financial assistance, Kamal said Threads has also become an avenue for supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs.
He revealed that many local traders contact him seeking opportunities to promote their products and services through his social media presence.
According to Kamal, some of those businesses have experienced encouraging growth after receiving exposure on his platform, making the experience rewarding beyond simply creating online content.
In addition to business enquiries and appeals for assistance, Kamal said he has also received numerous unexpected personal messages from followers.
Among them are proposals from individuals expressing an interest in marrying him, introducing him to family members or attempting to arrange potential matches.
The actor said he politely declines such approaches while appreciating the goodwill shown by his supporters.
Kamal, who recently joined the hosting team of the entertainment programme Melodi, described Threads as a platform that has created new professional opportunities for him.
He said a growing number of brands have approached him through the platform for commercial collaborations, contributing positively to his career and business prospects.
Despite its benefits, Kamal encouraged social media users to maintain proper etiquette and mutual respect when interacting online.
He stressed that social media should be used responsibly, urging users to avoid insulting or belittling others and instead foster a more positive and supportive online environment.
