Saifuddin Keeps Silent on Sungai Petani Circuit Controversy, Says Probe Must Proceed Without Political Noise
BANDAR BAHARU — Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has opted to remain tight-lipped over allegations linked to the RM75 million Sungai Petani racing circuit project, despite acknowledging that he is in possession of substantial information about the matter.
The Home Minister emphasised that the issue should be handled exclusively by enforcement and investigative authorities, warning against public speculation that could complicate or politicise the process.

Addressing reporters after attending a community programme for storm victims, Saifuddin made it clear that the appropriate course of action is to allow authorities to examine the case thoroughly.
He noted that formal reports regarding the project have already been filed, and any determination of wrongdoing must be based on official findings rather than public commentary.
“This is not something that should be debated prematurely. If there are elements that require scrutiny, the relevant agencies must be given full space to investigate,” he said.
His stance reflects a broader call for institutional processes to take precedence over political narratives in matters involving alleged financial irregularities.
Avoiding Premature Disclosure
Although Saifuddin admitted to having access to various details about the project, he stressed that revealing such information at this stage could lead to misinterpretation.
He cautioned that statements made before the completion of investigations may be perceived as carrying political motives, potentially undermining public confidence in the process.
“I am aware of certain aspects, but it is not appropriate to disclose them now. Let the investigation unfold without unnecessary interference,” he said.
