Vietnam Encourages Remote Work to Reduce Fuel Consumption
HANOI — The Vietnamese government has encouraged companies and workers to adopt remote working arrangements where possible in an effort to reduce fuel consumption amid global energy uncertainty caused by tensions in West Asia.
According to the Vietnam News Agency, the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has advised both public and private organisations to consider allowing employees to work from home when job conditions permit.
The move aims to reduce daily commuting and transportation demand, thereby lowering fuel usage across the country.
The recommendation comes as escalating tensions in West Asia have triggered volatility in global energy markets and disrupted fuel supply conditions.
In addition to promoting remote work, the ministry has also urged citizens to adopt fuel-saving practices in their daily routines.
These measures include limiting the use of private vehicles when unnecessary, carpooling with others, using public transportation and choosing bicycles for short-distance travel.
Authorities have also encouraged the public to consider switching to electric and hybrid vehicles as more energy-efficient alternatives.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to manage the potential impact of global energy disruptions while promoting more efficient fuel consumption nationwide.
