AMD Bundles Carbice Ice Pad With Ryzen 7 5800X3D To Deliver Long-Term Gaming Performance

ATLANTA: Advanced cooling technology developer Carbice Corporation has announced a new partnership with AMD that will see the Carbice Ice Pad bundled with the relaunched special-edition AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

The collaboration marks the first time mainstream CPU buyers will gain direct access to carbon nanotube-based thermal interface technology through a major retail processor package.

Designed as a maintenance-free alternative to conventional thermal paste, the Carbice Ice Pad aims to provide consistent thermal performance throughout the lifespan of a PC system.

Traditional thermal compounds often require periodic replacement because they can dry out, degrade, or shift away from critical contact surfaces between the processor and cooling system. When this happens, heat transfer efficiency declines, potentially leading to higher operating temperatures and reduced performance.

Similarly, some graphite-based thermal pads can become brittle over time or lose optimal contact with the processor, affecting cooling efficiency.

Carbice said its Ice Pad addresses these issues by utilising vertically aligned carbon nanotube structures that remain stable and thermally conductive throughout years of use.

As a result, users can enjoy reliable cooling performance without the need for repasting or continuous monitoring.

Carbice founder and Chief Executive Officer Baratunde Cola said many PC users experience unexplained performance degradation after prolonged use, often due to the deterioration of thermal interface materials.

He noted that Ice Pad was specifically engineered to eliminate such failure points by maintaining structural integrity and thermal conductivity over the long term.

The product features a peel-and-stick installation design that simplifies the building process while reducing the mess commonly associated with thermal paste applications.

In addition, Carbice highlighted the sustainability benefits of the solution, noting that the product is manufactured using recycled aluminium and carbon derived from waste gas streams.

The company also emphasised that Ice Pad helps preserve the cleanliness of computer components, making future upgrades, maintenance and resale easier.

For AMD, the partnership offers additional value to users of the AM4 ecosystem, which remains widely adopted among gaming enthusiasts.

Despite the availability of newer platforms, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D continues to enjoy strong popularity thanks to its gaming performance and compatibility with existing motherboards and DDR4 memory.

This becomes particularly important as memory prices continue to rise due to growing demand associated with artificial intelligence applications and broader semiconductor market pressures.

AMD Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Ryzen CPU and Radeon Graphics, David McAfee, said the Carbice solution enables users to maintain the same level of performance years after installation as they experienced when first assembling their systems.

He added that the combination of simplified installation and long-term reliability makes the technology especially attractive for gamers seeking dependable performance over extended periods.

The bundled Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Carbice Ice Pad package is expected to become available later this year.

Beyond the AMD bundle, Carbice Ice Pad is already being shipped in selected gaming systems from CyberPowerPC and is expected to become available as a standalone product through Noctua for use with AMD Ryzen processors.

The collaboration reflects a broader industry trend toward developing longer-lasting and more efficient cooling solutions that can help extend the lifespan of existing PC platforms while reducing maintenance requirements for consumers.
