Malaysia Airlines Extends Suspension of Doha Flights Until March 20

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia Airlines has extended the temporary suspension of its flights to Doha until March 20, 2026 as security conditions in West Asia continue to evolve.

In a statement issued today, the national carrier said the decision was taken due to safety concerns linked to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, which has led to disruptions and airspace closures across parts of the region.

Flights to the Qatari capital were initially suspended on February 28, 2026 following the closure of several air routes amid escalating geopolitical tensions.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, said it is closely monitoring developments through continuous risk assessments as well as operational updates issued via Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).

The group noted that the resumption of Doha services will depend on further evaluation of the security situation to ensure flight operations can be conducted safely.

At the same time, Malaysia Airlines has increased widebody aircraft capacity on routes connecting Asia and Europe to support passengers affected by the suspension.

The move is intended to assist travellers in continuing their journeys through alternative connections and to facilitate family reunions.

The airline said these flights are operating on carefully planned routes designed to avoid airspace affected by the ongoing conflict.

MAG added that all other Malaysia Airlines services, including flights to Jeddah, Madinah, London and Paris, remain unaffected and continue to operate as scheduled.

The airline reiterated that the safety of passengers and crew remains its highest priority in all operational decisions.
