KUSKOP Supports Special Task Force to Curb Social Visit Pass Misuse, Safeguard Local Enterprises

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP) has reaffirmed its strong support for the formation of a special task force to address the misuse of social visit passes (PLS), describing the initiative as essential to protecting Malaysia’s economic stability and upholding regulatory compliance.

In its statement, the ministry characterised the task force, led by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, as a decisive and coordinated effort to tackle allegations that certain foreign nationals are operating businesses illegally under social visit passes.

KUSKOP emphasised that such practices not only violate immigration regulations but also disrupt fair market competition, potentially undermining the sustainability of Malaysia’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The ministry pledged close cooperation with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry Malaysia, Ministry of Home Affairs Malaysia, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Malaysia and Ministry of Housing and Local Government Malaysia to ensure comprehensive enforcement measures.

As the ministry entrusted with strengthening the MSME ecosystem, KUSKOP stated that concerns raised by local entrepreneurs regarding unfair competition are being taken seriously.

It reiterated that the government would not tolerate unlawful business activities that threaten national sovereignty or weaken confidence in Malaysia’s business environment.

KUSKOP stressed that its core objective remains the creation of a transparent, fair and conducive commercial landscape where compliant Malaysian entrepreneurs can thrive.

The ministry views the task force as a long-term safeguard to reinforce regulatory integrity, protect local enterprises and sustain inclusive economic growth.
