Johor Polls: BN Declares Full Readiness for Nomination Day as Onn Hafiz Confident of Smooth Campaign Launch
JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional (BN) has completed preparations for all 56 state constituencies ahead of the Johor state election nomination day, with party chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi expressing confidence that every aspect of the coalition’s election machinery is ready for the official start of the campaign.
Speaking after attending the Phase Four Johor Kasih Housing Initiative presentation ceremony at the Austin International Convention Centre (AICC), the Johor Menteri Besar said months of planning and coordination had ensured the coalition was fully prepared to enter the next phase of the election process.
According to Onn Hafiz, preparations have covered every operational requirement, including candidate documentation, logistics, election machinery deployment and coordination among BN component parties to ensure nomination proceedings proceed smoothly across all 56 state constituencies.
He said nomination day represents an important milestone before political parties officially begin campaigning, making thorough preparation essential for every candidate contesting the election.
“We have completed all necessary preparations carefully and systematically. We hope tomorrow’s nomination process at every nomination centre will proceed smoothly and in accordance with all Election Commission regulations,” he said.
The Johor BN chief also expressed optimism about his own contest in the Machap state constituency, saying he hopes voters will once again place their trust in him to continue serving the community.
He said continued public support would enable the state administration to maintain policy continuity while implementing ongoing development projects and welfare programmes designed to improve the quality of life for Johor residents.
Onn Hafiz added that every BN candidate representing UMNO, MCA and MIC has been working closely with grassroots supporters in their respective constituencies to prepare campaign strategies and strengthen engagement with local communities before the official campaign period begins.
He described cooperation among BN’s component parties as one of the coalition’s greatest strengths heading into the state election.
Malaysia’s Election Commission has scheduled nomination day for June 27, early voting on July 7, and polling day on July 11.
During the same event, Onn Hafiz also announced that the Johor government has allocated RM20.75 million under the Phase Four Johor Kasih Housing Initiative, benefiting approximately 5,000 recipients throughout the state.
The allocation comprises RM17.5 million for the First Home Purchase Assistance programme, RM2 million for the First Home Entry Assistance scheme and RM1.25 million for Rental Assistance.
He said the housing initiative reflects the state government’s continued commitment to expanding access to affordable housing while helping families cope with rising living costs.
According to him, housing remains one of the state’s development priorities, particularly for young families and first-time homebuyers seeking financial assistance.
Onn Hafiz said Johor will continue introducing programmes that directly improve public welfare while ensuring sustainable economic and social development across the state.
He added that the government remains focused on delivering practical assistance and maintaining development momentum regardless of the election period, emphasising that people-centred initiatives will continue to form the foundation of the state’s long-term agenda.
