Immigration Confirms Three of Tun Daim’s Children Are Overseas, Records Shared with MACC
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 — Malaysia’s Immigration Department has confirmed that three of the four children of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, who are being sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), are currently outside the country.
Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said records show the individuals departed Malaysia between late January and early February.
He added that one of the four individuals has no record of leaving the country.
Immigration records confirm overseas travel
“I can confirm that three of them have left Malaysia, while one has no departure record,” he said.
Zakaria declined to reveal their current locations, citing the ongoing investigation.
He said the Immigration Department will provide all relevant information to the MACC as required.
MACC seeking four individuals to assist investigation
Earlier, the MACC announced that it is seeking the four individuals to assist investigations under Section 36(1)(b) of the MACC Act 2009.
The commission identified them as Asnida Abdul Daim, Md Wira Dani Abdul Daim, Muhammed Amir Zainuddin and Muhammed Amin Zainuddin.
Authorities have urged the public to come forward with information.
Lawyers say siblings not avoiding investigation
Lawyers representing the siblings said their clients had already been informed of an interview scheduled for March 11.
They criticised the MACC for publicly releasing their clients’ personal details.
They argued that the move created the impression that the siblings were avoiding investigators.
Immigration pledges full cooperation
Zakaria said the department will continue cooperating with the MACC.
He stressed that all information will be shared according to legal procedures.
The case remains under investigation.
