Didie Alias Unfazed by Questions on Wearing the Hijab, Says It’s a Personal Journey

KUALA LUMPUR — Actress and television host Didie Alias says she bears no resentment toward those who question her about when she plans to wear the hijab, describing the matter as deeply personal.

Speaking at a media event for the programme Puasa Tetap Puasa, Raya Tetap Raya at Angkasapuri Kota Media, Didie said she has grown accustomed to critical remarks on social media.

“Whenever I go live, there will always be negative comments. If they go too far, I just block them. That’s it,” she said.

Family Support Above All

The 54-year-old entertainer shared that most criticism comes from strangers online, while her children and close friends remain her strongest supporters.

She recounted how her children praised her appearance during a recent fashion shoot and constantly keep her in their prayers.

“For me, my children’s prayers matter the most,” she said.

Faith and Timing

On the subject of religious transformation, Didie stressed that wearing the hijab is not a decision to be rushed or made under pressure.

“I believe everything happens with God’s permission. If one day He opens my heart toward that path, then it will happen. I don’t know when — only He knows,” she said.

She added that she continues to pray for guidance and hopes the right time will come.

Staying Relevant in a Changing Industry

Beyond personal matters, Didie acknowledged the need to stay attuned to developments in the entertainment industry, particularly with the rise of new talents.

As a host, she said she makes it a point to understand current trends while maintaining professional boundaries.

“I follow the times. We take the good and leave the bad. In this digital era, we have to keep learning,” she said.

For Didie, the key lies in balancing public life with personal conviction — choosing composure over conflict and growth over pressure.
