Anwar Hails “Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story” as a High-Quality Cinematic Achievement

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has described the epic historical film Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story as a remarkable cinematic achievement after attending its special screening in Putrajaya.

He said the film successfully brings to life the legendary love story of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal through strong storytelling, emotional depth, and visually striking cinematography.

Anwar also praised the work of his longtime friend, Akbar Khan, who served as the writer, producer, and director of the film.

“It is a refined and meaningful production that reflects both historical richness and artistic excellence,” he said after the screening.

The special preview was attended by senior government officials and representatives from Malaysia’s media and film industry.

More than 22 years after its original release in India, the award-winning film has been revived through a comprehensive 4K digital restoration and enhanced with Dolby Atmos sound, offering audiences a more immersive viewing experience.

Malaysia was selected as the first international stop for the film’s global tour, ahead of screenings in Indonesia, Russia, South Asia, and West Asia, highlighting its lasting international appeal.

In a related development, Anwar confirmed that he will personally welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon his arrival in Kuala Lumpur for a two-day official visit.

The visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange.

Bilateral trade between Malaysia and India reached RM79.49 billion in 2025, reflecting the growing depth of cooperation between the two countries.
