Steven Sim Chee Keong Commends Nurul Amani Zabani for Excelling Despite Adversity

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The outstanding SPM achievement of Nurul Amani Zabani has drawn praise from Steven Sim Chee Keong, who described it as a testament to her determination in overcoming life’s hardships.

The 18-year-old faced significant challenges after losing her father, a lorry driver, about six years ago due to diabetes-related complications.

Raised by her mother, who works as a house cleaner with an unstable income, Amani remained committed to her studies despite financial struggles.

Courage to Speak Out

Steven said he first met Amani during a visit by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Permatang Pauh last year.

During the visit, Amani bravely shared her difficulties, drawing attention to her situation and prompting support.

Support Enables Success

Following that encounter, Steven took Amani under his care as a foster child to help ease her financial burden and allow her to focus on her education.

Her success in the SPM examination reflects the impact of that support.

Driven by Ambition

He added that Amani aspires to become a forensic police officer and hopes to pursue further studies, including abroad.

Her discipline and determination, he said, make her a strong role model for young people.

A Symbol of Hope

Steven described Amani as a symbol of hope, proving that with perseverance and the right support, individuals can rise above adversity.

He also presented her with a laptop to support her future educational journey.
