AKPS Commander Escapes Unhurt, Maintains Composure After Shooting Attempt

KUBANG PASU, Feb 25 — A commander from the Agensi Kawalan dan Perlindungan Sempadan Malaysia (AKPS) in Bukit Kayu Hitam escaped unharmed after a shooting attempt by two unidentified individuals earlier today.

AKPS director-general Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said he met Mohd. Nasaruddin M. Nasir to assess his condition and ensure the safety of personnel stationed at the border post.

He said the officer remained calm and composed despite the dangerous situation, reflecting his training and professional experience.

According to him, Mohd. Nasaruddin continues to carry out his duties as usual, demonstrating strong dedication to his responsibilities.

The incident occurred while he was driving his Proton X70 to Masjid Al-Muhajirin Bukit Kayu Hitam to perform dawn prayers.

During the incident, two suspects reportedly fired shots at his vehicle but failed to injure him.

Mohd Shuhaily said the commander hopes those responsible will be identified and brought to justice.

He also expressed appreciation for police efforts in investigating the case.

Authorities are currently examining physical evidence, including bullet fragments, and reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations.

Initial findings suggest that the suspects used a semi-automatic firearm based on the damage found on the vehicle.

Police investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to locate and apprehend the suspects.
