Nearly Two Million Malaysians Redeem RM100 SARA Credit, Close to RM200 Million Disbursed
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 — Close to two million Malaysians have redeemed the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit as of Tuesday, with total redemptions approaching RM200 million, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said.
He described the uptake as a strong indication of public acceptance and confidence in the improved implementation of the assistance programme.
“To date, nearly two million beneficiaries have utilised the credit. The system has operated smoothly with no reports of long queues at retail outlets.
“Compared to the initial rollout last year where there were minor technical issues, this round has seen significant improvements in system stability and user experience,” he said after launching the Jana MyPesara initiative.
The minister noted that the government has expanded the list of eligible goods, including allowing frozen food purchases, to provide greater flexibility for recipients.
The RM100 one-off SARA credit is available to more than 22 million MyKad holders aged 18 and above, valid from Feb 9 to Dec 31, 2026.
Amir Hamzah emphasised that the MyKad-based digital distribution mechanism enhances transparency, reduces leakages and ensures that assistance reaches intended beneficiaries more effectively.
At the same event, he also launched Jana MyPesara, a microfinancing programme aimed at supporting retirees in managing and growing their businesses in a structured and sustainable manner.
