Sharifah Aleya Announces Divorce, Says Family Remains Strong
PETALING JAYA, Feb 12 — Radio personality Sharifah Aleya Syed Zainal Rashid Al-Yahya has confirmed that she is now divorced from her husband, Mohammed Azam Abdullah, marking the end of their marriage after more than a decade together.
The 44-year-old broadcaster did not disclose the exact date of the divorce but revealed that her iddah period concluded today.
Aleya shared the news through a social media post accompanying a video documenting her journey throughout 2025. She explained that the announcement was made to prevent speculation and misunderstandings.
“Alhamdulillah ‘ala kulli haal. My children and I are doing well and supporting one another through this situation. We are grateful to have a strong support system,” she wrote.
She emphasised that the disclosure was not meant to invite sympathy, but rather to clarify matters and avoid any unfounded rumours regarding her personal life.
“This is simply to inform and to prevent fitnah. InshaAllah, we will be fine. Please keep me and my children in your prayers,” she added.
Aleya married Azam in January 2013 and the couple shares two sons, Ali Abdullah and Ahyan Abdullah, both aged nine.
Prior to that, she was married to Muhd Asyraf Aasimuddin in 2007 before their separation in February 2012. From that marriage, she has twin daughters, Aza Ameena and Asha Ameena, now 17.
In moving forward, Aleya appears focused on maintaining stability for her children while embracing a new chapter in her life.
