Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia Steps Up Efforts to Locate Covid-19 Orphans and Secure Their Future

KUANTAN, Feb 28 — Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia (YKM) is intensifying efforts to identify children who lost their parents due to Covid-19, ensuring they receive continued support and protection.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the foundation believes many affected children have yet to be identified.

He called on community leaders and authorities to help locate those in need.

“We believe there are still children who require assistance. We welcome cooperation to ensure they are not left behind,” he said during a breaking fast event.

The event was attended by the Sultan of Pahang and the Crown Prince.

Special programmes bring joy ahead of festive season

Earlier, 102 children under the foundation’s care were treated to a festive shopping programme.

The initiative aimed to lift their spirits ahead of Hari Raya.

The children were given the opportunity to select their own festive items.

Foundation established to protect pandemic-affected children

The foundation was established in October 2021 following the pandemic.

Its goal is to safeguard the welfare of affected children.

Monthly financial assistance is provided.

Additional support includes schooling and festive aid.

Education identified as key priority

Education has been identified as a major focus area.

The foundation declared 2026 as its education year.

Free online tuition is being provided.

This is especially for students preparing for national exams.

Long-term support remains key mission

Ismail Sabri said the foundation aims to provide long-term support.

He stressed the importance of ensuring children have opportunities.

He said education will help secure their future.
