PETALING JAYA — The Workers’ Day Celebration and Carnival 2026 wrapped up on a high note after attracting more than 30,000 visitors over three days at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil, underscoring strong public participation in national workforce initiatives.
The event was officially launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who presided over the opening Workers’ Day Mega Gathering that brought together over 15,000 participants from across government agencies, private companies, and labour organisations.
Celebration Beyond Ceremony
More than a commemorative event, the carnival functioned as a strategic platform designed to connect job seekers, employers, and policymakers under one roof. It offered a comprehensive environment where attendees could explore employment opportunities, gain insights into workforce policies, and access essential services.
Organisers highlighted that the event was structured to provide real-world impact by bridging gaps between talent supply and industry demand.
Large-Scale Employment Opportunities Presented
A key attraction was the MyFutureJobs Premium Carnival 2026, which featured over 10,000 job openings across multiple sectors, including high-demand industries.
The programme, led by Social Security Organisation, drew 2,177 participants to its career fair component, with 268 individuals successfully securing employment through direct interview and matching sessions.
Employers participating in the event numbered 30, collectively offering more than 4,000 vacancies with salaries reaching up to RM16,000, reflecting efforts to enhance access to quality employment.
Policy Direction and Workforce Protection
Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan emphasised that the celebration symbolised the nation’s recognition of workers as a critical pillar of economic growth.
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to safeguarding workers’ rights while equipping them with the tools needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving job market.
Initiatives such as the Gig Workers Act 2025 and enhancements to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem, including the creation of a Semiconductor Academy, were highlighted as key measures in strengthening workforce resilience.
Knowledge Exchange and Skills Development
The carnival featured multiple knowledge-sharing sessions, including short talks and discussions focused on career pathways, industry trends, and skills enhancement.
These programmes aimed to prepare participants for emerging opportunities and challenges in the labour market.
The inclusion of World Occupational Safety and Health Day also reinforced the importance of workplace safety and employee welfare.
Community-Focused Services and Public Engagement
In addition to career-related activities, visitors had access to a wide range of public services, including registration for the Madani Worker Card and various health screenings.
Services offered included breast and prostate checks, hearing tests, dental care, and blood donation drives, reflecting a holistic approach to worker well-being.
The presence of Rahmah Sales and Agro Madani initiatives further supported efforts to ease living costs, drawing strong participation from attendees.
Strengthening a Resilient Workforce Ecosystem
The Ministry of Human Resources concluded that the event successfully met its objectives by adopting a whole-of-government and whole-of-industry approach to workforce development.
The carnival played a vital role in raising awareness of employment-related programmes while ensuring access to opportunities, protection, and support systems for workers.
It also reinforced the “Pekerja Madani Kesuma Bangsa” vision, which positions workers as the foundation of national progress and economic sustainability.
