Wawasan officially recognised as registered political party, says Hamzah

PETALING JAYA: Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) is now officially recognised as a registered political party following approval from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for its change of name and adoption of a new party identity.

Party president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said Wawasan had complied with all legal requirements throughout the transition from Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) to Parti Wawasan Negara and had not breached any provisions of the Societies Act during the process.

He said the name change was approved during the party’s annual general meeting (AGM) before the relevant application was submitted to the RoS for consideration.

“Wawasan is a legitimate political party for all Malaysians. I would like to make it clear that this is a legally registered party.

“We received an approval letter from the RoS dated July 7, 2026, addressed to the secretary-general of Parti Wawasan Negara regarding the application for approval of amendments to the party’s constitution and its new name,” he told reporters after chairing Wawasan’s inaugural Central Committee meeting on Thursday.

Hamzah, who is also the Larut MP, said the approval covered four key matters, namely the party’s change of name, change of registered address, amendments to its constitution under Section 11 of the Societies Act, and approval to use its flag, logo, emblem and badge under Section 50 of the same Act.

He explained that while Wawasan had previously used its flag and logo following approval by party delegates during the AGM, formal endorsement from the RoS had only recently been granted.

“The flag, logo, emblem and badge had already been approved by members during the AGM. There was nothing improper about using them, except that official confirmation from the RoS had yet to be issued.

“Now that the approval has been granted, all matters relating to the party’s identity have been formally recognised,” he said.
