Two arrested after man found dead at Sunway shophouse

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested two individuals to assist investigations into the death of a man whose body was discovered at a shophouse along Jalan PJS 8/2 in Bandar Sunway on Thursday.

The suspects were brought back to the premises by investigating officers at about 8pm as part of efforts to reconstruct the incident and facilitate the collection of evidence at the scene.

According to a source, preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was allegedly taken to the premises for what was described as a “discussion” believed to be linked to drug distribution activities before he was assaulted.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, is suspected to have died inside the premises, which is understood to have been operating as an entertainment outlet, at about 3pm on Wednesday.

A witness said the victim had been brought to the location shortly before the incident occurred.

The witness further claimed that after the victim was found unconscious and later confirmed dead, an individual at the premises allegedly instructed several female companions to leave the building before removing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording equipment and contacting the police.

Following the report, police officers were dispatched to the scene to begin investigations. The victim’s body was later transported to hospital at about 5pm on Thursday for a post-mortem examination and further procedures.

Police have yet to officially establish the motive behind the incident, and investigations remain ongoing.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Petaling Jaya district police chief were still underway at the time of writing.
