Hisense Expands European Air Conditioning Business as Demand Grows for Energy-Efficient Home Cooling

QINGDAO, China, July 8 — Consumer electronics and home appliance manufacturer Hisense is strengthening its position in the European air conditioning market by expanding its portfolio of energy-efficient cooling systems, responding to rising consumer demand for products that combine lower energy consumption, easier installation and smart home functionality.

The company said changing consumer expectations across Europe are driving stronger demand for air conditioning systems that are not only capable of improving indoor comfort during warmer summers but are also practical for apartments, rental properties and older residential buildings where installation can be more challenging.

This trend has contributed to strong commercial performance during the first half of 2026.

According to Hisense, revenue from its air conditioning business in Western Europe increased by nearly 20 per cent year-on-year, while sales in France more than doubled over the same period.

The company attributed the growth to increasing consumer preference for climate-control solutions offering greater installation flexibility, improved operating efficiency and lower long-term ownership costs.

Rather than relying solely on seasonal demand, Hisense believes the market is shifting towards products designed to deliver year-round value through energy savings and intelligent climate management.

One area receiving particular attention is installation simplicity.

Many European homes, especially apartments and older residential properties, face structural limitations that can complicate traditional air conditioning installation.

To address this, Hisense has introduced products featuring modular construction and installation systems designed to reduce installation time while simplifying servicing requirements.

The company said maintenance has also been streamlined through removable filter designs that allow routine cleaning without specialised equipment, helping users maintain system performance more conveniently.

Energy efficiency continues to be another important purchasing consideration as electricity prices remain a priority for households across Europe.

Hisense’s latest residential cooling systems are designed to achieve A+++ energy efficiency ratings for cooling performance, enabling consumers to reduce electricity consumption while maintaining indoor comfort.

For customers seeking more advanced climate management, the company is also expanding its premium product range by incorporating intelligent environmental sensing technologies.

Selected models feature thermal infrared sensors capable of detecting room occupants and automatically adjusting airflow direction to improve comfort by reducing direct exposure to cold air.

Hisense said these smart climate-control functions are intended to create a more personalised indoor environment while supporting efficient energy use.

Noise reduction has also become an increasingly important product feature.

Premium models operate at sound levels as low as 18 decibels, making them suitable for bedrooms, home offices and other living spaces where quiet operation is valued.

The company has also focused on industrial design, integrating minimalist styling with functional engineering to better suit contemporary European interiors.

One of its premium air conditioning products has received international recognition through the Red Dot Award, reflecting growing emphasis on combining technology, aesthetics and user experience.

Hisense said consumer expectations are evolving beyond traditional cooling performance, with buyers placing greater emphasis on sustainability, convenience and long-term operating efficiency.

As a result, future product development will continue prioritising smart technologies, energy-saving innovations and user-centred design that address everyday household needs.

The company believes these trends will continue supporting demand for intelligent home climate solutions as Europe experiences warmer temperatures and consumers increasingly invest in technologies that improve residential comfort while helping manage energy costs.

With continued investment in innovation and regional expansion, Hisense aims to strengthen its presence across European markets by offering climate-control solutions that align with changing lifestyles and the growing demand for more sustainable home appliances.
