Wanita UMNO to Establish Committee to Review ‘Rumah Bangsa’ Proposal and Returning Members
KOTA BHARU — UMNO’s women’s wing is preparing to form a special committee to closely examine the “Rumah Bangsa” proposal introduced by party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The initiative is expected to play a key role in evaluating the proposal as well as managing applications from former members who are interested in returning to the party.
Wanita UMNO chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the committee will be tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of the proposal to ensure that any decisions made are in line with the party’s organisational framework and long-term strategy.
Speaking to reporters during a breaking-of-fast event in Kota Bharu, Noraini emphasised that the move reflects the party’s effort to strengthen its internal structure and ensure that membership matters are handled in a systematic manner.
Structured Review of the Rumah Bangsa Initiative
According to Noraini, the proposed committee will examine all aspects related to the Rumah Bangsa initiative, including its objectives and how it may impact the party’s future direction.
The committee will also assess the process of re-admitting former members who previously left the party but have now expressed interest in returning.
“Insya-Allah, Wanita UMNO will establish a committee to review this matter thoroughly,” she said.
She explained that a structured review process is necessary to ensure that every decision is made carefully and in accordance with UMNO’s organisational procedures.
By establishing a dedicated committee, the party hopes to ensure that the Rumah Bangsa initiative can be implemented effectively while maintaining discipline within the party structure.
Early Interest From Former Members
Noraini revealed that Wanita UMNO has already begun receiving inquiries and early applications from former members who wish to rejoin the movement.
However, she said it is still too early to determine the total number of individuals interested in returning because the process is still at an initial stage.
“There are indeed applications coming in, but we cannot yet determine how many individuals are involved,” she said.
The Wanita UMNO chief stressed that every application will undergo proper review before any approval is granted.
This approach is intended to ensure that those returning to the party remain committed to its principles and political goals.
Central Committee to Oversee the Process
Noraini explained that all membership applications received by Wanita UMNO will eventually be forwarded to the central-level Rumah Bangsa committee.
This committee, chaired by UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, will coordinate the overall process and ensure that all procedures comply with the party’s constitution.
The central committee will determine the appropriate mechanisms for evaluating and approving returning members.
According to Noraini, close cooperation between Wanita UMNO and the central leadership will help maintain consistency in the implementation of the initiative.
Returning Members Include Former Leaders
Noraini also noted that the individuals who have shown interest in returning to Wanita UMNO come from various backgrounds.
Some of them previously held leadership roles within the party, while others were ordinary members involved in grassroots activities.
“Some of them were former leaders, while others were regular members,” she said.
Regardless of their previous positions, the party will evaluate all applications carefully before making a final decision.
This process is intended to ensure fairness and transparency while safeguarding the party’s unity.
Rumah Bangsa Aims to Reconnect Former Members
The Rumah Bangsa concept introduced by Ahmad Zahid is aimed at creating an inclusive platform that welcomes back former UMNO members who wish to return voluntarily.
Earlier reports indicated that the initiative is not intended to pressure anyone into rejoining the party.
Instead, individuals who wish to return must do so willingly and with a renewed commitment to the party’s struggle.
Ahmad Zahid previously stated that the Rumah Bangsa committee would coordinate the process promptly by implementing appropriate procedures in line with UMNO’s constitution.
The initiative is widely viewed as part of efforts to strengthen unity within the party while rebuilding connections with former supporters.
Wanita UMNO Supports Efforts to Strengthen the Party
Noraini said Wanita UMNO fully supports the initiative as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its organisational structure and expand its membership base.
By forming a special committee, the women’s wing hopes to ensure that the process of reviewing membership applications and studying the Rumah Bangsa proposal can be carried out responsibly.
The committee will gather input, review applications and present recommendations to the party leadership regarding the next steps.
As the initiative progresses, Wanita UMNO aims to play an active role in supporting the party’s efforts to rebuild unity and reinforce its presence at the grassroots level.
