Prolonged Rainfall Prompts Weather Warnings Across Several Malaysian States
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued continuous rain warnings for multiple states as prolonged rainfall is expected to persist until Thursday, raising concerns over potential flooding.
Several districts in Pahang have been placed on the highest danger level alert due to forecasts of very heavy and sustained rainfall.
Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin are among the most vulnerable areas, with authorities warning of increased risks of flooding, river overflow and possible landslides.
METMalaysia has also issued a severe-level warning for districts in Terengganu, Pahang and Johor, where heavy and continuous rain could lead to flash floods.
Affected areas include Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu, Jerantut, Maran and Bera in Pahang, as well as Segamat and Kota Tinggi in Johor.
Meanwhile, an alert-level warning has been issued for wider regions, including the entire states of Kelantan and Melaka, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Residents in these areas have been advised to stay informed and take precautionary measures as rainfall continues.
METMalaysia urged the public to follow official advisories, avoid flood-prone areas and prepare for possible evacuation if conditions deteriorate.
Authorities and emergency response agencies are on heightened alert to respond swiftly should flooding or related incidents occur.
The weather department said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary.
