Polis Diraja Malaysia Tracking Axia Driver in Hit-and-Run That Injured Traffic Constable

KUALA LUMPUR: The Polis Diraja Malaysia is searching for the driver of a Perodua Axia involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a traffic police constable injured while on duty last Friday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said a report on the incident was received at 11.40pm.

He said the collision occurred at around 10.47pm when the 27-year-old constable was stationed in a yellow box junction area along a route from Jalan Tun Razak towards the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre.

“The officer was struck from behind by a vehicle bearing unidentified registration plates, and the driver fled the scene without stopping to assist,” he said in a statement.

Victim Sustains Multiple Injuries

The constable suffered injuries to his right palm, the back of his head and his ribs, and was rushed to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment.

He is reported to be in stable condition but remains under medical care.

Police Intensify Search Efforts

Mohd Zamzuri said authorities are actively tracking down the suspect using closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the surrounding area.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

Members of the public with relevant information are urged to come forward and assist by contacting the investigating officer or the nearest police station.
