Mat Sabu Dismisses ‘Backdoor Move’ Speculation in Negeri Sembilan
Amanah Reaffirms Support for PKR’s Aminuddin Harun as Menteri Besar
KUALA LUMPUR — Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu has dismissed speculation that the party’s sole assemblyman in Negeri Sembilan could be elevated to the position of menteri besar.
Mohamad, widely known as Mat Sabu, stressed that Amanah remains fully aligned with the current state administration led by Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
According to him, Amanah is not involved in any attempt to replace the current state leadership through political manoeuvres commonly referred to as “tebuk atap” or backdoor moves.
“There is no way Amanah will lead any backdoor move in Negeri Sembilan. The current menteri besar is Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and there will be no other menteri besar apart from PKR and Pakatan Harapan,” he said in a Facebook video posted earlier today.
He also stressed that Amanah’s sole elected representative in the Negeri Sembilan state assembly must continue giving full support to Aminuddin’s leadership.
According to Mat Sabu, Amanah rejects any attempt to form or change governments through political manoeuvres that contradict the party’s principles.
He said the party remains committed to strengthening cooperation within the unity government framework while focusing on the welfare and development of Negeri Sembilan residents.
The Amanah president added that the party does not intend to participate in political actions that could disrupt the stability of the state administration.
The statement came amid speculation over a possible leadership change involving the Negeri Sembilan menteri besar position.
However, Mat Sabu reaffirmed that Amanah remains committed to supporting the current administration under the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining political stability to ensure the state’s development agenda can continue without disruption.
Political observers said the public statement from Amanah’s top leadership appeared aimed at easing political speculation that could potentially create uncertainty within the state government.
Negeri Sembilan is currently governed under a unity government arrangement involving cooperation between parties within Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional.
Aminuddin Harun has continued serving as menteri besar following the formation of the unity government after the previous state election.
