Malaysia’s King inspects UAE’s cutting-edge defence capabilities during visits to NIMR and CARACAL
KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim continued his Special Visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today with an inspection of two world-class defence technology facilities — NIMR and CARACAL — operated by the prestigious EDGE Group in Abu Dhabi.
The visit, announced via the King’s official Facebook page, underscored Malaysia’s interest in understanding the capabilities of the UAE’s rapidly advancing defence industry.
At NIMR, located within the Tawazun Industrial Park, His Majesty was received by EDGE Group Managing Director and CEO Hamad Al Marar and later briefed by Platforms and Systems Cluster President Khaled Al Zaabi on the production, strategic role and operational performance of NIMR’s high-mobility military vehicles.
Sultan Ibrahim then toured CARACAL, a leading global small-arms manufacturer, where he was greeted by CEO Hamad Al Ameri. During the visit, His Majesty showcased impressive marksmanship by firing a CSR 308 sniper rifle at a 100-metre shooting range.
NIMR and CARACAL are regarded as key defence assets within the UAE, contributing significantly to the nation’s military readiness and global industry presence.
The visit is viewed as part of Malaysia’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with the UAE, strengthening bilateral ties while exploring future cooperation opportunities in defence technology, security collaboration and strategic industries.
