Jais Submits Probe Findings on Alleged Deviant Teachings for Prosecution Review

SHAH ALAM — The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has forwarded the findings of its investigation into alleged deviant teachings involving four individuals, including a 65-year-old man detained last month, to prosecutors for further consideration.

Jais director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the department will continue to collaborate closely with prosecutors to ensure that cases involving deviant religious teachings are handled in accordance with existing legal provisions.

He explained that the four individuals were initially released within 24 hours after their first arrest before being detained again in connection with another offence.

However, Shahzihan emphasised that enforcement actions such as arrests cannot be carried out solely due to pressure from certain parties without a clear legal basis.

“In the legal system, no individual can be detained arbitrarily without proper justification. Every action must be supported by thorough investigation and must comply with legal procedures before an arrest can be made,” he said.

He spoke after the handover ceremony of the Ihya Ramadan Fund under the Tabung Infak Jariah Umat Islam Selangor (Tijari) to several mosques and surau across the state at Dewan Sakinah, Menara Selatan, Bangunan Sultan Idris Shah here today.

Earlier media reports stated that Jais had arrested a man in Rawang who allegedly claimed to be a prophet, along with three others including a woman.

The case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995 for allegedly engaging in acts contrary to Islamic teachings.

During the same event, Jais also distributed RM228,200 from the Tijari fund to educational institutions, mosques, surau and associations throughout Selangor.

Mohd Shahzihan, who also serves as chairman of Tijari, said the special contributions were intended to support repair and maintenance works at selected mosques and surau.

Among the recipients were Masjid Jamiul Muhammadiyah in Kampung Kuantan, Surau Darul Islam and Masjid Nurul Iman in Rawang, each receiving RM50,000.

Masjid Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah in Subang Airport received RM28,116.50, while Masjid Telok Menegon received RM10,000.

The total allocation for the repair works amounted to RM188,116.50.

The event also included the presentation of incentive funds to fully sponsored Haj pilgrims under the Selangor government for the 2026/1447H pilgrimage season.

A total of RM29,000 was allocated, with each pilgrim receiving RM1,000 as pocket money to help cover expenses during their stay in the Holy Land.
