Government Warns Against Security Disruptions During Foreign Leaders’ Visits – Fahmi Fadzil
PUTRAJAYA: The government has issued a strong warning to all parties against causing any form of security disruption, especially during upcoming official visits by foreign leaders to Malaysia.
Unity Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said the firm stance was conveyed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during today’s Cabinet meeting.
He stressed that the government would not tolerate any actions that could threaten public safety or tarnish Malaysia’s international reputation.
“The Prime Minister has made it clear that the government will not allow any party to create security disturbances, particularly when the country is hosting official guests.
“Firm action will be taken to safeguard public safety and ensure the protection of visiting leaders,” he said.
National Security Remains Top Priority
Fahmi emphasised that security remains a top priority, especially during diplomatic visits that involve bilateral relations and national interests.
He said any attempts to provoke unrest, stage uncontrolled demonstrations or pose security threats would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
All relevant enforcement agencies, he added, have been instructed to remain on high alert to ensure smooth proceedings.
Modi’s Visit Expected This Weekend
Although Fahmi did not specify the visiting leader, the warning is believed to be linked to the upcoming official visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled for this weekend.
In a separate statement, Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry, Kementerian Luar Negeri Malaysia, confirmed that Modi will visit Malaysia from February 7 to 8 at the invitation of Anwar.
The visit follows Anwar’s official trip to India in August 2024 and is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
Fahmi expressed hope that the public would cooperate fully to ensure the visit proceeds smoothly and successfully.
