Government Assures Maximum Security Ahead of Modi’s Official Visit to Malaysia
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian government has assured that comprehensive security measures will be implemented to ensure that foreign leaders’ visits are conducted safely, smoothly, and without disruption.
Communications Minister and Madani Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had stressed during a Cabinet meeting that any attempt to disrupt public order would not be tolerated while Malaysia hosts international guests.
Fahmi said all relevant agencies have been instructed to enforce preventive and protective measures to safeguard visiting delegations and the general public.
“Firm and decisive action will be taken to ensure security is fully maintained throughout the official visit,” he told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
Malaysia will host a two-day official visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, beginning tomorrow, in return for Anwar’s visit to India in August 2024.
According to Wisma Putra, Modi will receive an official welcome at the Perdana Putra Complex, followed by a bilateral meeting with Anwar at the Seri Perdana Complex.
Both leaders are expected to hold discussions on strategic cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, defence, security, tourism, education, and workforce development.
They will also witness the exchange of several memoranda of understanding covering anti-corruption initiatives, disaster management, seafarer training, professional certification, and audiovisual production.
In addition, agreements on labour cooperation and exchanges of notes on semiconductors, healthcare, national security, and technical and vocational education are expected to be concluded.
Fahmi said the enhanced security arrangements reflect Malaysia’s commitment to maintaining its reputation as a reliable and responsible host on the global stage.
He added that Malaysia-India relations continue to strengthen, with India remaining Malaysia’s largest trading partner in South Asia.
In 2025, bilateral trade reached RM79.49 billion, driven mainly by palm oil exports, electrical and electronic products, as well as agricultural and chemical imports.
