Father Holds Onto Hope As Search Continues For Missing Teen Hiker
HULU SELANGOR: The father of a teenage girl who went missing during a hiking trip at Bukit Changkat Asa last Saturday remains hopeful that ongoing search and rescue (SAR) operations will uncover new leads regarding his daughter’s whereabouts.
Azizul Abdul Aziz, 48, said he and his family have come to terms with all possibilities as the disappearance of his daughter, Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul, 18, entered its third day.
“Whether she is still alive or otherwise, we are prepared for any possibility. We only hope she can be found soon so proper arrangements can be made,” he said when met at the Fire Operations Control Post today.
The Felda Trolak Utara resident described his second child among four siblings as cheerful and active, adding that she had not shown any unusual behaviour prior to the incident.
According to him, Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul had recently been especially happy after successfully obtaining her driving licence.
He said the teenager had also recently started working at a restaurant near Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Sungkai while remaining active in netball activities.
“Even after finishing school, she would still voluntarily return to her former school to help the sports teacher train the school’s netball team,” he said.
Hiking Interest Developed In Recent Years
Azizul Abdul Aziz said his daughter only became interested in hiking activities over the past few years.
He shared that he had previously climbed Gunung Belumut together with her, although he was unable to join the family hiking trip last Saturday.
On the day of the incident, Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul was hiking with her mother, sister, aunt and two cousins.
She is believed to have gone missing at around 10.50am while descending the hill after deciding to walk ahead alone because she felt hot and tired.
The teenager was last seen wearing a brown hijab, dark green long-sleeved shirt, black trousers and blue shoes.
Search Operations Continue
The SAR operation has now entered its third day, involving multiple rescue agencies and volunteers conducting extensive searches across forested areas and hiking trails around Bukit Changkat Asa.
Authorities previously confirmed that the search radius had also been expanded in efforts to improve the chances of locating the missing teenager.
