Bersatu unveils 24 candidates for Negeri Sembilan state election campaign

SEREMBAN: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has confirmed that it will contest 24 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election, signalling the party’s intention to mount a broad challenge as campaigning officially gets underway.

The candidate lineup was announced by Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the party’s election machinery launch and candidate introduction ceremony held in Nilai on Friday, ahead of the start of the official campaign period.

The announcement outlines Bersatu’s strategy for the election, with the party fielding a combination of incumbent assemblymen, senior party leaders and prominent figures from various professional backgrounds.

Among the notable candidates is Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker, who has been nominated to defend the Labu state seat that he currently holds.

The party has also named Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz as its candidate for the Sikamat constituency, where he will seek to secure one of the state’s key seats.

Meanwhile, Bersatu Associate Wing Chief R. Sri Sanjeevan has been selected to contest Jeram Padang, while Malaysian Paralympic Council President Datuk Seri Megat D Shahriman Zaharudin will represent the party in Seri Menanti.

The inclusion of leaders with political, professional and organisational experience reflects Bersatu’s effort to present a diverse slate of candidates for the election.

Muhyiddin introduced the candidates as the party prepares to intensify its campaign across Negeri Sembilan, with election activities officially beginning on Saturday.

The state election is expected to see intense competition among the major political coalitions, with parties seeking to secure support across both urban and rural constituencies.

Bersatu’s announcement marks another milestone in the build-up to polling, as parties finalise their candidates and mobilise campaign machinery ahead of voters heading to the polls.

Over the coming days, candidates are expected to focus on engaging local communities, outlining their policy priorities and presenting their vision for the state’s future as campaigning gathers momentum throughout Negeri Sembilan.
