Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar takes over as Perikatan Nasional chairman
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has assumed the role of chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN) after the coalition’s top leadership endorsed his appointment during a special Supreme Council meeting.
Decision reached through leadership consensus
The appointment was confirmed following discussions among PN’s senior leaders, who convened to determine the coalition’s leadership arrangement.
Gerakan president Dominic Lau Hoe Chai said the move reflects PN’s commitment to unity and collective leadership among its component parties.
He noted that Ahmad Samsuri’s selection demonstrates the coalition’s confidence in his ability to steer PN forward.
Leadership expected to strengthen coalition ahead of GE16
Dominic Lau also congratulated Ahmad Samsuri and expressed hope that he will successfully fulfil his responsibilities.
He said PN is confident the new chairman will help strengthen its organisational readiness and strategic planning ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).
The appointment is seen as an important development as the coalition positions itself for future political contests.
