Autopsy Finds Private University Student Died from Severe Blood Loss as Police Continue Murder Investigation

PETALING JAYA: Police have confirmed that a private higher education student found dead at a condominium in Bandar Sunway on Tuesday died from severe blood loss caused by serious injuries sustained during the incident.

Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said findings from the post-mortem examination conducted by forensic pathologists concluded that excessive bleeding was the cause of death.

He said investigators also recovered a sharp weapon believed to be linked to the case, which has been seized as evidence to assist ongoing investigations.

According to him, preliminary findings indicate that the victim had likely died more than 24 hours before the body was discovered, although investigators are still working to establish the exact timeline of the incident.

Police are continuing to gather evidence to determine the full sequence of events surrounding the case, he said in a statement on Thursday.

Hussin also said authorities have yet to verify claims circulating about the suspect’s alleged mental health condition, stressing that the matter remains under investigation.

The victim’s body is currently awaiting release to family members, who have already been informed of the incident.

Earlier, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said investigators believe the victim and the suspect knew each other and were involved in a close personal relationship.

Initial investigations suggest the incident may have been triggered by personal disputes involving emotional issues, relationship conflicts and financial matters related to daily living.

Police were alerted to the case at about 11.03am before discovering the victim, believed to be in his 20s, with injuries on the body inside the condominium unit.

A foreign man, also in his 20s, was arrested at the scene to assist with investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
