Amirudin: Strong Selangor Win Crucial to Secure Anwar’s Second Term
HULU KELANG: Selangor must deliver a decisive victory for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in the next election to ensure the continuation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership, said Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin said PKR’s performance in Selangor would play a critical role in determining whether Anwar secures a second term in Putrajaya.
He was speaking at the Selangor PKR Convention held at the MPAJ Convention Centre in Taman Melawati today.
Early Strategy from Ramadan
Amirudin proposed that political planning and grassroots mobilisation should begin as early as Ramadan, with full implementation after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
He said efforts must include strengthening party machinery, establishing new divisions, and increasing public awareness of PKR-led government achievements.
“I will personally review the progress after Aidilfitri to ensure members are carrying out these plans,” he said.
Warning Against Complacency
In his address, Amirudin warned party members against becoming complacent, reminding them of past setbacks in Johor and Melaka.
He stressed the need for stronger engagement with voters to reclaim lost seats and maintain PKR’s dominance in Selangor.
“Our target is to contribute at least 12 to 14 seats in the coming election,” he said.
Selangor as a Political Stronghold
Amirudin noted that failing to meet this target could weaken both the federal and state governments.
“Without a strong mandate from Selangor, it will be difficult to sustain leadership at both levels,” he said.
He urged party members to intensify grassroots work and highlight government policies that directly benefit the people.
