Quran Waqf Initiative Positions Malaysia as Key Player in Global Islamic Outreach

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s Solidarity Waqf One Million Quran initiative has emerged as a major platform for global Islamic outreach following the latest distribution of 40,000 copies to the United States and West Africa.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Religious Affairs, Senator Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan, said the programme integrates humanitarian values with religious education.

He stressed that the initiative is not merely about physical distribution but about nurturing moral development and social harmony.

“More than half a million copies have reached communities worldwide. This reflects our sincere commitment to global engagement,” he said.

Strategic Role in Religious Diplomacy

Zulkifli highlighted that the initiative also strengthens Malaysia’s role in religious diplomacy by promoting mutual respect and intercultural understanding.

Through multilingual publications, the Quran is made accessible to diverse communities.

Aligned with Malaysia Madani Vision

He added that the programme aligns closely with the Malaysia Madani framework, which emphasises compassion, integrity and shared responsibility.

With rising global interest, Malaysia plans to expand the programme further in the coming months.

He expressed hope that the Quran would continue to serve as a foundation for ethical leadership and peaceful coexistence.
