GameChange Solar Wins 1,290 MWp Tracker Contract for Bisha Solar Project in Saudi Arabia
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Global solar tracking technology provider GameChange Solar has secured a major contract to supply its advanced Genius Tracker™ 1P system for the 1,290 megawatt-peak (MWp) Bisha Solar PV Independent Power Plant in Saudi Arabia.
The landmark renewable energy project is being developed by ACWA Power, with Larsen & Toubro serving as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner. Once completed, the facility is expected to become one of the largest utility-scale solar power plants in the Middle East.
Announced from Dubai, the agreement reflects GameChange Solar’s growing role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s ambitious renewable energy agenda under the Public Investment Fund (PIF) programme. The initiative aims to rapidly expand clean energy capacity while strengthening domestic manufacturing and supply chains.
The Bisha project requires strong regional logistics and production capabilities to meet tight construction schedules. GameChange Solar’s expanded manufacturing operations in Saudi Arabia, with an annual capacity of up to 6 gigawatts, provide a critical advantage in ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and operational reliability.
Located in the Asir Province, the solar plant will deploy the Genius Tracker™ 1P platform integrated with SmartStow™, PowerBoost™, and WeatherSmart™ technologies. These advanced features are designed to maximize energy yield while protecting solar assets from extreme environmental conditions.
Saudi Arabia’s desert climate presents major operational challenges, including high wind speeds, sudden changes in wind direction, dust storms, and prolonged heatwaves. The SmartStow™ system automatically positions panels in safe stow configurations during severe weather, while WeatherSmart™ continuously adapts tracker behavior to real-time conditions. PowerBoost™ further enhances output by optimizing panel angles during peak generation periods.
According to company executives, these technologies ensure long-term stability and consistent performance, even in harsh desert environments. The integrated platform helps reduce maintenance costs, minimize downtime, and improve overall plant productivity.
Vikas Bansal, Chief Executive Officer – International at GameChange Solar, said the company’s focus remains on delivering technology that performs reliably under real-world conditions. He noted that the firm’s experience across diverse global projects and its consistent manufacturing standards have been key factors in winning major contracts across the region.
Bansal also highlighted that the Bisha project represents a major milestone in the company’s partnership with L&T, bringing their combined project portfolio in the Middle East to more than 2 gigawatts. He described the collaboration as being built on transparency, accountability, and long-term commitment.
L&T representatives stated that the inclusion of GameChange Solar reflects strong confidence in the company’s engineering capabilities, quality standards, and sustainable business practices. They emphasized that reliable suppliers are essential to maintaining execution excellence in large-scale infrastructure projects.
With this latest contract, GameChange Solar further consolidates its position as a leading supplier of solar tracking systems in the Middle East. The Bisha Solar PV Plant is expected to play a strategic role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s clean energy targets, reducing carbon emissions, and strengthening national energy security.
The project also aligns with the Kingdom’s broader Vision 2030 strategy, which prioritizes economic diversification, industrial localization, and environmental sustainability through large-scale renewable investments.
