BN to decide Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar candidate after state election victory

JELEBU: Barisan Nasional (BN) will only announce its candidate for the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar position after the state election, should the coalition succeed in forming the next state government.

Negeri Sembilan UMNO liaison chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said BN has several qualified figures capable of leading the state administration and is not short of potential candidates for the top leadership role.

He said the decision would be made by the BN leadership after considering the election outcome and determining the individual most suitable to head the state government.

“We have several candidates and we are not lacking figures who are capable of leading the state administration.

“Once we achieve victory, the BN chairman and leadership will decide who is qualified to be appointed as Menteri Besar to lead the state government,” he said.

Jalaluddin was speaking to reporters after the nomination process for the Chennah, Pertang, Sungai Lui and Klawang state constituencies at Dewan Besar Kuala Klawang, Jelebu.

He said BN’s focus at this stage remains on securing the confidence of voters and presenting its plans for the future development of Negeri Sembilan.

The coalition is expected to introduce its election commitments focusing on key areas including economic growth, public welfare, education, infrastructure development and efforts to address cost-of-living pressures.

Jalaluddin, who is also the Jelebu Member of Parliament, said the selection of the Menteri Besar candidate would be made based on leadership capability, experience and the ability to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Negeri Sembilan.

The announcement of the candidate after the election reflects BN’s approach of prioritising the election outcome before finalising the state’s leadership structure.

The Negeri Sembilan state election will determine the political direction of the state and the party or coalition that will form the next government.
