BN takes commanding early lead in Layang-Layang as unofficial vote count progresses

KLUANG: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Chua Jian Boon has established a commanding lead in the unofficial vote count for the Layang-Layang state seat in the Johor state election, according to early tally results released on Saturday night.

As of 8.07pm, Chua had secured 3,819 votes, placing him well ahead of Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate B. Guna, who garnered 1,010 votes, and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim with 693 votes.

Based on the unofficial count, BN was leading with 69.16 per cent of the votes counted so far, while PH accounted for 18.29 per cent and PN received 12.55 per cent.

A total of 5,522 ballots had been counted at the time the figures were compiled.

The Layang-Layang constituency is witnessing a three-cornered contest involving BN’s Chua Jian Boon, PH’s B. Guna and PN’s Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim.

A total of 25,181 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the constituency during the 16th Johor State Election.

The figures remain unofficial and are subject to change pending the completion of the counting process and the official announcement by the Election Commission (EC).
