Teen to be charged over stabbing of schoolmate in Banting

SHAH ALAM: A teenage girl accused of stabbing her classmate at a secondary school in Banting, Kuala Langat, is scheduled to be charged at the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) said the charge will be brought at 8am on July 10.

“The suspect in the student stabbing case will be charged on July 10 (Friday) at 8am at the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court,” the police said in a brief statement on Thursday.

The development follows earlier reports that the 15-year-old suspect had claimed she was a victim of bullying by several schoolmates, including the student she allegedly stabbed.

However, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said preliminary investigations found no evidence linking the incident to bullying.

He said statements recorded from witnesses, including the 10 students whose names appeared in a list circulated on social media, did not support claims that the incident was the result of bullying.

The suspect, a Form Three student, was arrested on Monday after allegedly stabbing her classmate during an incident that occurred between 9.30am and 10am at the school in Banting.

The teenager, who is on the autism spectrum, was subsequently remanded for four days until July 10 to facilitate investigations before being brought to court for prosecution.
