Tunku Mahkota Ismail Says Johor Government Focused on Results, Not Political Rhetoric
MUAR: Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the state government remains focused on delivering tangible results for the people, stressing that every policy, development project and public initiative is closely monitored under his watch.
The Regent said allegations suggesting that the Johor government has neglected its responsibilities or failed to serve the people are unfair and do not reflect the actual efforts being undertaken by the state administration.
According to him, the welfare of Johoreans remains the top priority and he personally oversees the performance of the government to ensure that promises are translated into action.
“Do not come here and make statements as if the people are not being treated well or as if the state government is not doing its work.
“I monitor my government and I make sure that the administration carries out its responsibilities properly,” he said during a session with the public at the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC) here today.
The Regent revealed that he regularly communicates with Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and the State Secretary whenever issues arise, adding that he does not hesitate to seek updates even outside normal working hours.
“If something is delayed or if there is an issue, I will ask for an explanation directly.
“Sometimes I call late at night because I want to know why something has not been completed. I want solutions, not excuses,” he said.
Tunku Mahkota Ismail stressed that Johor requires leaders who are capable of implementing plans and delivering results rather than relying on rhetoric or making promises that cannot be fulfilled.
He said political narratives alone are not enough to move the state forward and that genuine leadership must be measured by achievements and real improvements in people’s lives.
“I do not like empty promises or stories that sound good but are never realised.
“When we have a vision, we must make sure it is implemented. A vision without execution is merely an illusion,” he said.
The Regent also urged the public to assess governments based on facts, performance and the ability to solve problems instead of listening to unverified accusations.
He noted that it is easy for political opponents to criticise and highlight shortcomings, but governing a state requires competence, commitment and the ability to make difficult decisions.
“Anyone can find faults or become an opposition voice.
“But when given the responsibility to govern, not everyone is capable of doing the job well,” he said.
Tunku Mahkota Ismail also dismissed claims that delays in certain development projects are solely the fault of the Johor government.
He explained that some projects involve federal approvals and regulatory processes that require time before implementation can proceed.
Nevertheless, he assured the public that the state administration remains committed to accelerating development and ensuring that the benefits reach the people as quickly as possible.
The Regent said Johor’s priorities remain clear — strengthening the economy, improving infrastructure, attracting investments and creating quality employment opportunities for its people.
He emphasised that all policies and initiatives undertaken by the state government are aimed at improving the quality of life of Johoreans and ensuring long-term prosperity.
“We want Johor to continue progressing and we want the people to enjoy a better life.
“That has always been my priority and it remains the priority of the state government,” he said.
Tunku Mahkota Ismail expressed confidence that with close cooperation between the government, civil servants and the people, Johor would continue to develop into a more progressive, stable and competitive state.
He said the ultimate goal is to ensure that Johor remains on a sustainable growth path while safeguarding the well-being and interests of all its people for generations to come.
